The Mule Trail
On the doorstep of our Broederstroom branch lies The Mule Trail. This is an easy 6km, pet-friendly hike starting at the Blockhouse Museum, going past an original 120+ year intact Blockhouse, onto the Mule Trail built by the British Army in the Anglo-Boer War to supply the Blockhouses on top of the Kalkheuwel hill tops.
Enjoy the Points of Interest along the walk, including the ruins of the original Blockhouses and the Sangers built for the gun positions.
The Blockhouse Museum
Situated at the start of the Mule Trail hike lies the Blockhouse Museum where we invite you to embark on a captivating journey learning about the history, resilience and significance of Blockhouses during the Anglo-Boer War.
